In the recent BTO exercise, flats in Yishun are grossly under-subscribed compared to Tampines, Fernvale and Tengah:
Flats in Yishun were under-subscribed in all three types – 3-room, 4-room and 5-room flats. The chief reason for this may be due to the location of the flats which are located far away from Yishun MRT station.
The over-subscription for Tengah’s flats comes as a surprise as it is a new estate with few amenities. However, its future-oriented open spaces and up and coming facilities are an attraction to new buyers.
Tengah is slated to be a green forest town with waterfront living, and houses a car-lite town centre, with plenty of green areas, parks and gardens.
Though it is not located within the vicinity of a MRT station, the proposed Jurong Rail Line, which is scheduled to be built in the next decade will have a station at Tengah which will connect residents to the nearby towns of Choa Chu Kang, Jurong West and Jurong East.
Besides Yishun and Tengah, the flats in the other two mature estates of Fernvale and Tampines are over-subscribed as expected.
